When booting, I receive the error autocheck program not found skipping autocheck and the computer reboots.I do not have any dual boot applications installed, only one hard drive, and one partition.
I have tried the following: Run Hitachi drive diagnostics Run CHKDSK R from recovery console. Sysprep Autochk Program Not Found .Exe From TheDelete the boot.ini file run BOOTCFG REBUILD Run FIXBOOT Run FIXMBR Copy AUTOCHK.exe from the XP CD to Windowssystem32 Use PTEDIT to make sure the DriveFiles were not hidden. Im stumped. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated Atticus. ![]() I would suggest you boot to your XP install CD (hope you have one, and not one of those damned recovery CDs that pc manufacturers are giving you these days) and then use the Recovery Console commands FIXBOOT and possibly FIXMBR: Description of the Windows XP Recovery Console HOW TO: Edit the Boot.ini File in Windows XP. KCTS: I was going to wait on a repair install as a last resort. If I dont have any luck with additional solutions, Ill give it a try Thanks Atticus. I believe the error is directly related to a failed operatiion of Partition Magic.
